Hotel Launch a Success!

On Tuesday 22nd September, local business leaders, regional investment agencies and members of the press all came along to witness the Chairman of Sunderland Football Club, Niall Quinn, officially opening the region’s newest boutique hotel – the Seaton Lane Inn. Joining him was former Sunderland AFC assistant manager Bobby Saxton.
The event itself provided an informal opportunity for local dignitaries to experience at first hand Seaton Lane Inn’s fabulous new facilities over champagne and lunch (and a pint or two of beer!), and celebrate the addition of another great facility in the region with Niall.
The inn’s owners, Dee and Adrian Marshall, boast a long track record in the Northeast leisure industry and were bristling with excitement at the launch of their latest, and most ambitious, project to date: “We’re delighted to be able to offer such modern, luxurious and stylish accommodation to a part of County Durham and Wearside that has been historically low on facilities of this nature,” said Adrian.
“Over the course of the past few weeks we have been inviting local businesses to check out the facilities at the Seaton Lane Inn and they’ve been blown away by what they’ve seen here – our interior design team has done a wonderful job and we’re proud to add top notch accommodation to the range of top class services we already provide.”
He added: “Since Niall first arrived in Sunderland he has been a good customer at the Seaton Lane Inn and we were delighted when he accepted our invitation to preside over its reopening as a hotel, pub and restaurant. It is a reflection of the kindness and generosity that has endeared Niall to the people of Sunderland.”
The Seaton Lane Inn has come a long way from its early incarnation as a blacksmith’s forge; it now incorporates a stylish lounge/dining area, traditional bar and a new two‐storey hotel attached to the original building. The pub/hotel already boasts a superb reputation locally for fine quality food, friendliness of the staff, affable clientele, a tempting and varied menu with locally sourced seafood and meats and a wide range of beers, including excellent cask conditioned ales served from the hand pump, wines and spirits.
In a month where the City of Sunderland staked an impressive claim to qualify as a host city for England’s 2018 World Cup bid, the Seaton Lane Inn stands as a perfect example of the sort of development the region requires if it is going to allay concerns over a lack of hotel beds.
The new hotel’s 18 en suite double rooms are tastefully furnished and have all modern conveniences including TV and radio, wireless internet access, toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities, and all were in use for the weekend of the Great North Run, proving what a useful addition the Inn is to County Durham’s hotel stock.
